It won’t be an exclamation if we state that Lord Ayyappa is the mostly devoted Shanishwar in South India.Previously the South Indian community residing in Raipur had to visit Shabarimala in Kerala so as to worship Lord Ayyappa.So later on one temple of Lord Ayyappa was established in Bhilai.But practically it was difficult for the people in Raipur to visit Bhilai daily for worshiping and performing rituals.So people realized the need of having a temple in Raipur. So initially people made one small temporary shed in Udaya Nagar,Tatibandh (where we have our existing Ayyappa Temple) and kept the photo of Lord Ayyappa and started doing bhajana .In the year 1988 The Ayyappa Sewa Sangam was established and the place was registered (no.20118) and the functioning of the temple was given to the trust.

One farmer Mr Jagaram Sahu alias Mr Hariram Sahu had given Udaya Society his land with the condition that it has to be used only for constructing any temple or dharmashala.Udaya Society gave permission to the The Ayyapapa Sewa Sangam to construct the temple in this land.Then the construction of the temple began and with the tremendous support from the devotees in the year 1990 the temple was formed by placing the Idol of Lord Ayyappa(pran prathishtha) and in 1996 dwaja pratishtha was done.Pran prathishtha was done by the hands of the famous tantric Brahmashri Guruvayoor Ishwaran Namboodarippadhu and dhwaja prathishtha was done by Brahmashri Kandararu(Shabarimala temple’s main tantri).
